In 2010 the Ironman triathlon was brought to St. George Utah this weekend!! Needless to say last years success was the deal breaker to sealing the deal. Last years turn out was amazing! No only were there tons of people participating in the triathlon itself, but Southern Utah came out to help volunteer and show those visiting what the true “Dixie” (St. George) spirit is all about.
The Ironman offers its contestants a signature view of the St. George landscape. The swim is held at Sand Hollow Reservoir, and the bike and run courses also give spectacular views of the surrounding areas. In its first year, the race earned a reputation as one of the best venues and most supportive communities on the Ironman circuit (taken from re and post-race surveys from more than 1,300 athletes). When asked their opinion of the event, most athletes gave the Ford Ironman St. George the highest possible rating. Tells a lot about our community and our residents.
Our Hurricane Sands tour (which overlooks Sand Hollow) would offer the PERFECT view of the swimmers. If you are planning on coming down this weekend of May 7th, be prepared for lots of traffic delays due to the race.
