In our world, taking an ATV out for a ride in the dunes is never a bad idea… But we do realize you don’t all live in our world. Compiled below are the Top 4 best times to take an ATV adventure ride in St. George Utah.
1. The Third Week of October.
October is an amazing month in St. George. The weather is cooled down enough from the hot summer, but there is no chill in the air. The scenery is still beautiful as the leaves are starting to change, the grass is still green and the skies are still blue.
Why did we choose the 3rd week you ask? The first and second weeks are filled with runners of the St. George Marathon and theHuntsman Senior Games. During those first two weeks, its going to be more difficult to book a hotel room and restaurants have lines out the door. The 3rd week however is a magical week! The majority of tourism is coming to an end and the weather is still top notch! Take advantage of that week and hit the trails on an ATV!
2.The week before Thanksgiving.
Again, the weather this time of year is ideal! There is a bit more crisp in the mornings and evenings, but around 1-2pm the sun is out and it’s warm enough for a light jacket or better. The crowds are waiting to take their holiday vacation, leaving you the dunes to yourself. The sunsets are stunning this time of year. The only caveat is that daylight savings has ended, leaving you one less hour to play. We still think it’s worth it.
3. The first week in May.
This one may seem obvious to some people and confusing to others. To this we have 1 word. IRONMAN. The St. George Ironman happens the first Saturday each May. It brings thousands and thousands of people to town. How is this a good thing? Well the event is placed on an ideal weather weekend so there is that, but besides that, Ironman participants and their family members are all downtown with a single motive- race. They won’t jeopardize their race day by riding atvs in the dunes the day before and they are too tired to really get out and play after. Hotels are a little harder to come by, but not with some pre-planning. Also an event like ironman lends itself to accommodating night life and activities! Go out for a ride, and then find yourself in town for a party at town square!
4. Anytime in June.
People are turned off to St. George in June. It’s hot and summer vacations are calling people elsewhere. We have news for you June haters… It’s stunning here in June! The heat wave hasn’t arrived, and besides– who cares! Ride your ATV’s at Sand Hollow State Park and then take an immediate dip in the refreshing 75 degree water of Sand Hollow Reservoir. Hotels are starting to discount in June and getting around town is a breeze. With pools, 3 nearby lakes and ATV riding, we don’t think there is any better time to ride!
